"Jean Cocteau’s magical exploration of the fairytale is a compelling and bizarre masterpiece; it is formally exquisite, heartfelt and entirely absorbing"
- Peter Bradshaw, The Guardian

This ravishingly beautiful 4K restoration of Jean Cocteau’s much-loved Gothic fantasy premiered to huge acclaim at the 2013 Cannes Film Festival. La Belle et la Bête is a landmark feat of cinematic fantasy in which master filmmaker Cocteau conjures spectacular visions of enchantment, desire and death.

Henri Alekan’s subtle black and white cinematography combines with Christian Berard’s masterly costumes and set designs to create a magical piece of cinema, a fairytale refashioned into a stylised and highly sophisticated dream.
