"One of the most important theatrical events of the past 20 years. Phyllida Lloyd has proved that gender-blending in Shakespeare need not be restricted to one lead actress, and that the results are vibrant"
- Susannah Clapp, The Observer

"An intense and bracing revival. Harriet Walter delivers a wonderfully intelligent performance. You feel that she is both a haunted, proto-Hamlet-like Brutus and an anguished inmate who understands the philosophical bitterness of the return to incarceration"
- Paul Taylor, The Independent

"Frances Barber is a viciously bullying Caesar and Harriet Walter’s austere Brutus is a performance of riveting intricacy. This is visceral and exciting theatre"
- Henry Hitchings, Evening Standard

"A phenomenal, invigorating all-female triumph; a glorious reminder that genuine diversity on stage offers astonishing creative benefits. The cast approach the text is fascinating and Harriet Walter is mesmerising. This is genuinely art to enchant"
- Lyn Garner, The Guardian

The Donmar Warehouse’s acclaimed production of Julius Caesar, starring Harriet Walter and directed by Phyllida Lloyd (Mamma Mia!, The Iron Lady), makes its cinema debut this summer.

Originally staged in the West End in 2012 and then revived in 2016, this all female production has been widely credited as one of the most original and groundbreaking of recent Shakespeare productions.

Captured before a live audience during the play’s revival at the Donmar, the production was met with superlative reviews and sell-out audiences across the board.
